High Cholesterol is a disease of the Metabolism.

Hello Herbpathy Team,

My uncle has been recently diagnosed with High Cholesterol. According to his reports his LDL level is 160 mg/dl which is high. He always complains about chest pain. He is 65 years old. He is taking allopathic medicines recommended by his doctor, but we do not found much progress. Please suggest us some herbal treatment.

Yes, you have heard right about the categories of the Cholesterol.

Cholesterol is a kind of fat that is required by our body to manufacture Vitamin D and Hormones. About 60% of cholesterol is produced by the Liver. It has two categories that are LDL and HDL.
LDL (Low density lipoprotein) Cholesterol: They are known as Bad Cholesterol because; they have bad effects on the body. They are responsible in deposition of plaque on the inner walls of the Arteries. It leads to hardening of the Blood vessels and as a result, it cause Heart attack and Stroke. The normal range of LDL should be 100 mg/dl. If it increases the level it may cause complications like Atherosclerosis.

HDL is High Density Lipoprotein: They are known as good cholesterol, as they have good effect on the body. They remove the deposition of LDL Cholesterol from the inner walls of the Blood Vessels. They transport LDL back to the liver, where LDL get broken down and elevated from the body. HDL prevent the deposition of extra fat in the body. Normal range of HDL is 45 to 50 mg/dl. Why don't you try Guggal. It is one of the best remedy for Triglycerides. Search for Shudha Guggal tablets on internet and have two tablets in a day. Try once, its really effective.

What is the easiest thing to add to my daily intake by capsule or something easy to bring my cholesterol (bad) down? I want something easy so I do it everyday. My Cholesterol is high.

Dear Kathleen Quinlan
Try Garlic and Cinnamon Tea.
Take 2 to 3 pods of raw garlic and mash them with some wooden tool. Leave it for 15 min and have it with a glass of water.
Take a cup of Cinnamon tea daily.
Have a cup of Rosehip daily.
Take these herbs for 15 days first and keep a regular check on the blood pressure. If you see positive results continue the use of these herbs for more 15 days. But make sure about the doses. When the BP goes down reduce the doses also.
Apart from herbs go for regular exercise daily.

Have 3 to 4 Garlic pods every day for 15 days.
Have a cup of Green tea 2 times in a day.
Have a cup of Cinnamon tea every day.
Avoid Alcohol, Pork, Carbonated Drinks, White sugar, white rice, white bread and red meat.
Have 1 Spirulina capsule every day.
Take half a tablespoon of Turmeric powder with some black pepper every day.
Apart from herbs go for regular exercise every day.

Take Hibiscus tea every day 2 times in a day.
Buy Tinospora Cordifolia tincture from a Homeopathy shop and have 10 drops 2 times in a day.
Have 2 to 3 pods of fresh Garlic daily.
Have 1 cup of Arjuna tea every day.
Take these herbs for 15 days and see the results.

I am suffering from high level of cholesterol and triglycerides. Also suffering from depression and mood change, I suspect my wife and usually offened.

Triglycerides goes up and down according to our food.
Have 1 cup of Ginger tea every day.
Take 3 to 4 fresh Garlic cloves and peel them. Mash them with some wooden based tool Make sure it won't comes in contact with some metal. Leave it for 15 min and have it with a glass of water every day for 1 week.
Have a Cup of Hibiscus tea every day.
Have 1 glass of Green Leaf juice every day. Add green leaves of vegetables and have it 3 times in a day for 15 days only.
