Hypersomnia is a disease of the Metabolism.
When a person is unable to stay awake during the day it is Hypersomnia.
Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) manifests itself by persistent sleepiness. There is a lack of energy in body. Even if the patient has had a full night's sleep, the person is still drowsy.
EDS is a general term. It may include several specific sleep disorders. Sleepiness is what you see. The cause may be Narcolepsy, Sleep Apnoea or a Circadian Rhythm Disorder.

My daughter aging 37 and mother of 3 children is a patient of Hypersomnia. Your sight has described the disease but has no suggestions of any treatment herbal / homeopathy. Will you please suggest something to over come the excessive sleep?

My suggestion to your daughter is that, she should go for a proper check up and get her all test done, it might be a symptom of some other disorder. And if every thing is ok, then please ask her to go for morning walk daily and do some breathing exercises. It will make her active and improve her oxygen level in the body.

I can't seriously believe this was your answer for Hypersomnia. I uave been diagnosed with Idiopathic Hypersomnia since I was 35, i am now 53. I've had it all my life. The information on your website states that "Wild Lettuce" is recommended but it also states that Wild Lettuce works food for Insomnia. Regardless, it's disappointing to see the advice of going for a morning walk or improve oxygen.

Dear Mohan I suggest you to take Damiana Herb.
2. Have 2 cups of Green tea daily.
3. Take 1 teaspoon of Maca powder with warm milk every day.
4. But Land Caltrops capsule and take 1 every day.
Also go for morning walk.

I am anusha 17 year old I face lack of concentration I like to do hard work but I am not able to put my efforts in studies when u was small I used to be awake whole night and now the case is that I am facing a a lot of sleepiness throughout the day may be depression can be a case but pleased recommend some home remedies to cure it as fast as possible I have to give my jee 2018

This is regarding my daughter "Sarrah" who is 21 years old now. We have been residing in Kuwait for the past 6 years and her Excessive Sleepiness started past 3 years only. Whenever Winter Season (from October to March) arrives in Kuwait she starts to fall excessive sleep and sometimes deep sleep. Earlier we found that her Thyroid (t4) was high and took treatment and currently tested her TFT and is normal. And now she is under medication and given tablets like CIPRAFLEX 10mg, INDRANIL, etc.

This Winter (2018) again she is facing the same situation.

please advise ?

I am 14 year old and suffer face excessive sleepiness.I sleep for 10-12 hours at night but still feel sleepy during the day.I can't concentrate on my studies as well due to sleepiness.It toubles waking up early.Its been 4-5 months that i am facing this.Is there any remedy for this?

hello sir , i m kausar ,19 yrs old girl. i sleep early and take properly 6:30-7 hrs sleep even though i fell asleep during day ,its lyk sleeping attack , whatever i doing if there is urge to sleep then i have to sleep otherwise i will sleeping unknowingly. sometime in mrng even taking proper sleep i m not able to wake up , even though i wake n wash my face then also i fell asleep if i m feeling sleepy. n after getting in only 3-4 hrs i feel sleepy again .n dream are so vivid n colourful that i remember each and every minute detail of my dream after geting up and dream is also the reason of excessive sleep

I suggest you to try the following for 1 month.
1. 10 min meditation every morning and evening.
2. Have 2 glasses of water early morning after you wake up. Add half lemon and 1 teaspoon of Honey in it.
3. Go for regular brisk walk every morning and evening. Do some exercises also.
4. Have a glass of coconut water every day.
5. Have some fruit and vegetable salad every day.
6. Add some Basil and Mint leaves, 1 Cucumber sliced and 1 lemon in 2 to 3 L of Water. have this water whole day.
Study your symptoms and follow this for 1 month. Try to go early to your bed and keep your cell phone away from your body at night.

Hi, I got Glandular fever for 2nd time 12 yrs ago and started sleeping 20 hrs a day, when I am awake I am groggy and my brain seems scrambled. (The first time I got GF I got chronic insomnia for 13 yrs). I have no life and no hope because I just sleep all the time. And I have no energy to do anything. I am 17 years old and from the last 3 weeks I'm suffering from excessive sleepiness especially during daytime. During night I don't feel much sleepy but waking up in the morning is very difficult. I sleep for 7-8 hrs in night but still feel tired when I wake up in the morning. I don't know whether I suffer from hypersomnia but the symptoms are like lack of interest in activities,no proper concentration in studies,loss of memory, feeling tired,etc. I'm quite depressed because I didn't perform well in my exams. I am 28 years old , have always had excess sleep since childhood .Now I sleep about 16 or 18 hrs per day ,sleep at 2 am and get up at 5 or7 pm .Feel very tired inspite of so much sleep , brain fog , severe constipation , lack of appetite , very poor eater .Pls help .

Do you feel stressed or have a busy routine? These symptoms can be because of poor dietary habits too.

Hello- I live in Texas and when Ragweed Pollen and them Mountain Cedar pollen come into the air from late July to February I go into extreme fatigue and tiredness and then depression. I want to sleep right there and then. I take all sort of supplements for allergies but none help. Can you please advise. Not thirsty, and no rattling mucous but I can feel mucous in sinus membranes because its tender when I touch.

Hey Carolyn. This seasonal allergy irritates a lot, I understand. Try a few herbs which I give to my son when needed.
Fenugreek: Add 1 teaspoon of Fenugreek seeds in a cup of water. Boil for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain well. Drink this tea 2 to 3 times a day. Ginger: It is alo very effective in treating allergies caused by pollen. Try Ginger decoction on alternate days. Enhance you immunity. Take Echinacea and Goldenseal combination capsules. Take 1 capsule daily for a month.

Get a proper check up done, it might be symptom of an underlying disease. Involve her in exercises or yoga. Talk to her, spend some time with her. Try to figure out if she is depressive. Excess sleep is also a sign of sadness and depression.

Good evening... I am a student. I am 19 years old and i sleep 9 to 10 hours a night but still i feel sleepy after having breakfast. I feel a lot of stress abd depression as i have to crack exam. Hello I am a student & face quite a struggle to wake up after sleep.Can uninterruptedly sleep up to 14 hours even sometimes without food even. Despite the sleep feels exhausted & lethargic through out the day resulting in no syllabus completion & a deep sense of failiure & sadness as a result.Which herbs can help in staying wide awake while devoted to studying night & day.

I was working very hard about 10 hours a day in farm lands & barely took any major break in between working periods.I was also sleeping 4-5 hours at night.
This was continued for 25 days & one day when I woke up I was feeling very anxious & sleepy.Then I started sleeping for 10 hours but this condition didn't improved.
Now I sleep almost 14 hours but still feel very sleepy & anxious.My head feels very heavy. I thought it caused chemical imbalance in my nervous system.
I am a male of 21 year age.Almost 1 year has passed after development of this condition.
