I am type 2 diabetic for 12 years. Currently numbers are 150 to 200 on tablets. My dad has a friend with pata de vaca in his yard. He sent a bagful of these leaves for me. However, the only instructions my dad remembers was to boil 6 leaves in a gallon of water to make tea. Drink a cup with each meal.
Can you confirm that using the leaves is okay or not. I couldn't find information about boiling the leaves anywhere else. On the internet I see tea bags and powder but nothing else referring to making the tea from its leaves.

The best method to take this herb is to prepare a decoction.
Yo may boil the leaves. Boil them for about 20 - 30 minutes. Strain it and then drink this tea. The only thing that you need to be careful about is sudden drop of Sugar levels. The herb has hypoglycemic action . Avoid this herb, if your father is already taking any anti diabetic medicine. Or you may avoid the anti diabetic drug, when taking this herb. Consult your health care provider before taking any herb or medicine.
