It is a bristly tree with a height of 60–100 cm or 2.0–3.3 ft. The leaves are alternate, simple and hairy with a length of 5 to 15cm. The stems are also hairy.
The flowers have perfect five narrow, trigonal-pointed petals. Borage flowers are beautiful and are blue in color. But sometimes you can also find pink flowers.
The cultivation of white flowers is also done. The blue flower is genetically superior then the white flower. In temperate climates, borage will bloom regularly throughout the year.
It is generally grown as a flower in kitchen gardens where it attracts bees responsible for pollination.
Borage is also considered as a good companion plant for tomatoes, squash and strawberries. It improves the flavor of tomatoes growing nearby and even deters tomato hornworms.
