Materia Medica for Insomnia
Single Herb In boiling water add a teaspoon of aniseed . Allow it to boil for 10-15 minutes. Add honey for taste.
Soak some Dill Flowers in a jug of drinking water. Drink it frequently.
Finely grind the Dill seeds. Soak 1 tablespoon in 1 glass hot water for 5 Minutes. Take with 1 tablespoon of Honey
Prepare a decoction of l-2 teaspoons of the dried herb powder in a glass of water. Boil it for l0-l5 minutes. Strain. Drink thrice a day.
Prepare a mixture of Aloe Vera leaf juice and Sesame oil. Take both in equal proportion. Boil them until moisture evaporates. Massage with it on head for few minutes.
California Poppy for Insomnia
Make infusion of the dried root of California Poppy. Drink a cup before going to bed daily.
Take Chamomile leaves. Put 4 to 5 leaves in your ordinary tea. Drink atleast twice a day.
OR : Put 5 to 6 drops Chamomile oil in one bucket of water and take a bath every day.
Hop for Insomnia
Prepare Hop tea. Drink one cup twice a day.
OR : Take one tablespoon in the form of tincture twice a day.
Add 2 lavender flowers in your ordinary tea. Take once a day. It calms the mind and helps to sleep.
OR : Heat Lavender oil. Inhale its smoke.
OR : Add few drops of Lavender oil in your bath water daily.
Prepare tea from Passion Flower. Drink one cup twice a day. One in the morning and another just before going to bed.
Attention : It may also be given to children in the form of infusion. One teaspoon twice a day. Don't worry it has no side effects.
Prepare tincture of Wild Lettuce plant ( see glossary for preparing a tincture ). Take one teaspoon twice a day.
It is a very good remedy for restless children. Give 2 drops twice a day to the child.
Take dried Kava roots. Powder it. Put half teaspoon in one cup water and mix. Drink thrice a day.
OR : Prepare tincture. Take one teaspoon twice a day.
St. Johns Wort for Insomnia
Prepare tincture of St. Johns Wort. Have one teaspoon twice a day for 15 days.
Attention : You may repeat it after a gap of one month.
Take half cup fresh Coriander leaves. Add one teaspoon of Sugar and 1/4 cup water. Grind. Drink at night.
Grind the root of Cypripedium Pubescens. Add one teaspoon of the powdered root into a cup of boiling water and allow it steep for about 10 to 15 minutes. Take this infusion when required.
Make a decoction of Red Poppy leaves. Take it, twice a day.
Coconut ( Nariyal ) Oil for Insomnia
Take 2 or 3 teaspoons Coconut ( Nariyal ) Oil. Heat. Massage forehead, palms and soles with lukewarm oil at night daily.
Soak 8 to 10 Almond ( Badam ) in the morning. At night, blend with one glass of milk and drink .
Mix one teaspoon Honey ( Shehad ) in one glass of water or Milk . Drink at night.
Take one fresh Apple or a tablespoon of Apple ( Seb ) jam with one cup of lukewarm milk at bed time.
Take 40 ml Launaea Pinnatifida leaf juice. It helps to bring sleep.
Crush a Nutmeg and put 2 cups of boiling water over it. Let it cool. Strain and take One cup before retiring.
Do not boil.
Grind Henna flowers to make a paste. Take half a teaspoon of this paste once a day.
Take 1lb. dried rootstock and add to 20 cups of water. Boil and then steep for 5-7 minutes. Strain and add to your bath water. It is good for a sound sleep.
Take one cup once a day in the form of tea.
OR : Prepare tincture. Take one teaspoon twice a day.
OR : Take One tablespoon fresh Valerian (Tagara ) juice daily.
Mix 5 g Withania Somnifera root powder with 1 tsp Honey. Have it once a day.
Crush 5 gm leaves of Mimosa Pudica to make a paste. Boil it in a cup of water. Strain. Drink during night time. Use it for 15 days and see the magical result.
Add 1 tsp Epsom Salt in lukewarm water. Take bath with it before going to bed.
Pour 3 grams of dried Indian Pennywort leaves in 500 ml of Cow Milk. Grind them. Strain and drink it for one week.
Add 3 drops of Spikenard oil in 30 ml warm water. Inhale its steam.
Massage your head with Indian Sorrel ( Sarvajjaya ) oil at night. It induces sleep.
Black Cumin for Insomnia
Add 1 tsp Honey and half tsp Black Cumin oil in a cup of warm Milk. Drink it once at night.
Use Clarified Butter as Nasal Drops.
Take half tsp Poppy seed oil before going to bed at night. Have it thrice a week.
Add 2 threads of Saffron ( Kesar ) in a cup of warm Milk. Drink it during bedtime.
Massage using Yogurt ( Dahi ) on your forehead. It helps to induce sleep.
Eat 5 g Sour Cherry during bedtime. You may consume it in juice form.
Prepare soup of Onion ( Pyaz ). Have it at bed time.
Oregano ( Sathra ) tea taken at bed time helps in getting restful sleep.
Take half a teaspoon of fruit powder with hot water at bed time.
Black Cherry contains Serotonin. This nutrient helps to Calm the mind and regulates natural sleep pattern.
Have 2 tablespoons of fresh Black Cherry juice an hour before sleeping for 10 to 12 days.
Castor Oil ( Arandi in India ) soothes the mind and stimulates the circulation. It reduces the pain and relaxes the nerves which helps to induce Sleep.
Take a cotton ball. Dip it in the Castor Oil. Apply it on to the Eyelids before sleeping. Leave it overnight. Do this for 5 to 6 days.
Note : Be careful not to get Castor Oil in the Eyes.
Jasmine Essential Oil soothes the nerves and the mind. It has a calming effect on the Brain and induces Sleep. This helps to treat Insomnia.
Add 4 to 5 drops of Jasmine Essential Oil in the diffuser before sleeping.
Mix powder of chicory root in milk. Consume it two times a day.
Mix two teaspoon Fenugreek Juice with one teaspoon of Honey. Drink this mixture daily at bedtime to improve your sleep.
Boil few fresh leaves of Lemon Balm ( Billilotan ) in 100 ml of water. Boil it for 5 minutes. Strain it off. Drink this warm decoction regular to induce the quality of sleep.
Take Brahmi Essential Oil and add 4-5 drops of this oil in a lukewarm bath water. Bath with it daily.
Consume 1 tablespoon of raw Radish juice daily. It provides relief from Insomnia and Nervous Spasms.
Add half teaspoon of Cinnamon powder in one cup of water. Boil it. Leave it for 5 minutes. Drink it two times a day with one teaspoon of Honey added in it.
Lemon Grass is sedative in nature which induces sleep. It provides a soothing effect on the nerves and reduces nervous tension. This is a good factor to reduce stress also.
Prepare a cup of Lemon Grass tea and have it every day.

Boil 2 tablespoons Aloe Vera ( Gheekumari ) pulp in 50 ml Sesame ( Til ) oil. Massage scalp and forehead.

Mix One tablespoon Powdered Withania Somnifera ( Ashwagandha ) root In a glass of hot Milk.

Combine Sandalwood Oil, Chamomile Oil and Lemon Oil in a ratio of 3:2:1. Soak a piece of cotton cloth in this mixture and inhale its essence.

Take one Walnut ( Akhrot ) and 2 Cardamom ( Choti Ilaichi ). Chew them together with a small piece of Jaggery ( Gur ). Have it twice a day.

The Sedative property of Indian Snakeroot ( Sarpagandha in India ) helps to calm the mind. Indian Snakeroot provides relief from Stress and induces Sleep.
Cardamom ( Choti Ilaichi in India ) has Aromatic property. It soothes the Nervous system and relaxes the body.
Mix 1 to 2 pinches of Indian Snakeroot powder and Cardamom powder. Take it two times a day. Continue taking it for 2 weeks.

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil helps to reduce the stress and calms the mind. Lavender Essential Oil soothes the nerves and induces sleep.

Ingredients:
2 Green Apples
Take 1/4 th of Cabbage
A hand full of Spinach
3 to 4 leaves of Lettuce
Half teaspoon of Ginger
Grind them in a juicer. Squeeze one Lemon and add a few fresh leaves of Coriander. Drink it daily.

Take half cup of Coconut Oil ( or any other carrier oil ) and add 24 drops of Neroli and 12 drops of Spikenard Essential Oil in it. Mix them well. Apply one tablespoon of this oil blend to the body before getting into bed. Repeat the process as needed to get relief.

Take one tablespoon of Carrier Oil ( or any other carrier oil ) and add 10 drops of Lavender and 5 drops of Petitgrain Essential Oil in it. Mix them well. Pour this oil blend in a warm bathtub and soak in it for 15 minutes. Repeat the process once a day before going to bed.
