Description
Hypothyroidism is a disease of the Thyroid Gland.
Low activity of the Thyroid Gland is Hypothyroidism.
It causes retardation in growth and mental lethargy.
Thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland at the base of the neck just below the adam's apple.
Thyroid Gland produces Triiodothyronine (T3) and Thyroxine (T4) hormones.
These hormones help in development, growth and other body functions.
The release of thyroid hormone is controlled by the Pituitary gland and the Hypothalamus.
When the thyroid hormone becomes less active the other body functions are impaired. It affects the metabolism of the body.

Materia Medica for Hypothyroidism
Single Herb Consume 3-4 Walnuts daily. It helps in balancing the functioning of Thyroid.
Kelp for Thyroid Problems
Including Kelp in your diet helps in maintaining Thyroid functioning.
Consume Irish Moss either in Soup or in cooked form.
Add 1 tsp Coconut Oil in a glass of warm Milk. Drink it during night time..
Consume Broccoli either in raw or cooked form in your diet.
Iodine helps in proper activity of Thyriod gland. Use iodised salt in daily food.
Boil Ginger in one glass of water. Add iodised salt to taste. Drink.
Or: Drink a cup of Ginger tea.
Flax seed ( Alsi ) for Hypothyroidism
Take a teaspoon of Flax seed with a glass of water.
Or: Prepare an infusion of Flax seed. Drink before taking breakfast.
Have 2-3 Blacknut daily.
Iodised Food for Hypothyroidism
Increase the intake of iodised food in daily diet.
Have Non veg if you are Non vegeterian. Vegeterians can take Potato, Parsley, Radish, Bananas, Oatmeal, yogurt.
Boil a cup of water with 2 to 3 teaspoons of dried Bladderwrack herb. Leave it for 12 minutes to steep and cover it with a lid. Drink this infusion thrice a day after it cools down.
Steep some Coleus leaves into the lukewarm water. Boil it for one hour to prepare Coleus tea. Strain this infusion and drink it.
Or : Pluck some Coleus leaves, rinse them well. Just Chew it.
Prepare Avena Sativa's porridge or soup by adding water to it. Consume it twice a day.
Add Dulse leaves to your salad. It controls your thyroid levels.
Or : Prepare a soup with Dulse leaves and consume it once a day.
Add Stinging Nettle herb in hot water and steep it for 10 to 12 minutes. Strain this decoction and add Honey to taste. Drink this tea twice a day.
Add 20 gm of Bauhinia tree bark powder in 200 ml of water. Boil, til the water reduces to 50 ml. Strain and drink it twice a day.
