Upper flowers of the spike are male. Lower flowers are bisexual. Fruit is covered with minute pale pubescence. Oil obtained from the seed is useful in Skin diseases. It is a good tonic for stomach and brain. It is an effective for headache, chronic diarrhea and piles. It is useful in treating bronchitis, nose and heart disease.
