Antiseptic Herbs

Definition

Antiseptic herbs are those herbs which either kill or reduce the growth of Microorganisms. The term Antiseptic includes Germicides. Germicides only kill microorganisms.
This action takes place on the external surfaces of the body of a living organism.

Antiseptics like alcohol, iodine, hydrogen peroxide, mercuric chloride, and boric acid are harsh on the skin. Herbs are soothing and mild.

Tea Tree oil is one of the most effective Antiseptics. Remember to dilute it.

Goat Weed for Wounds

Extract the juice of Goat Weed leaves. Apply.

Red Sandalwood ( Lal Chandan ) as Antiseptic

Sprinkle Red Sandalwood powder on the damaged Skin.

Azadirachta Indica ( Neem ) as an Antiseptic

Azadirachta Indica ( Neem ) possesses Antiseptic property. Antiseptic property of Azadirachta Indica ( Neem ) prevents any kind of infection in an open wound.
Grind bark of Azadirachta Indica ( Neem ) with little water. Apply it over the affected part.

Vitex Trifolia as an Antiseptic

Store dried leave powder of Vitex Trifolia. Sprinkle it over Wounds. It helps to heal them fast.

Witchhazel for Cuts and Burns

Apply Witch Hazel oil to the affected area.
Or: Extract the oil of Witch Hazel's from leaves and Bark. Apply it over the cut part or the burn part.

Lavender for Hematoma

Make infusion of Lavender flower. Wet the affected area with this infusion.

Chamomile ( Babunah ) for Aphonia

Prepare an infusion of the flowers of the Chamomile. Gargle with it twice a day.

Guava ( Amrood ) for Wounds

Boil One cup fresh Guava ( Amrood ) leaves in 3 cups of water for 10 minutes.
Cool and strain.
Use as a wash for Wounds 2-3 times a day.
OR : Apply leaf poultice to the wound to hasten healing.

Manjakani as Antiseptic

Boil Manjakani in water. Try to wash out your wounds and cuts with this water. It helps to heal them faster.

Henna ( Mehandi ) as an Antiseptic

Mix two tablespoon of dried Henna herb powder with half cup of Apple Cider Vinegar. Slightly warm it.
This mixture serves as an Antiseptic.
