Description

Depression is not a disease of the Mind.
It is a Psychological Disorder.
Depression is tension of the mind and it can make life empty and meaningless.
It causes a constant feeling of sadness. Gradually a person may loose interest in his daily life activities.
People get irritated when they are depressed. They take no interest in regular activities.

It is normal, if the sad mood and depression is associated with any trauma. It may be due to death of a loved one or a personal loss or any of the causes listed below.

Different Types of Depressions
Major Depression : It is the most severe type of Depression. It lasts for a few weeks or Months. It involves mood disorder, or lack of interest in daily activities.
Dysthymia : It is commonly known as Melancholy. It is less severe and may last for several years. It does disturb the normal activities of a person.
Bipolar Disorder : It is sometimes called Mania Depression. It Involves episodes of Depression and Mood Swings. People who have Bipolar Disorder are able to function normally but It causes a major disruption to lifestyle and health.
Seasonal depression (SAD) : It is tied to seasons of the Year and known as Seasonal Affective Disorder. It usually occurs in winters and it is known as Winter Blues.

Take seeds. Prepare strong infusion. Have it once a day.

Apple ( Seb ) for Depression

Eat an Apple with warm milk and honey.

Chamomile ( Babunah ) for Depression

Prepare a decoction of Chamomile leaves. Drink once a day.

Almond ( Badam ) for Depression

Eat 5 Almonds everyday, soaked over night.

Marijuana ( Bhang ) for Anxiety, Depression

Simmer 2 tablespoons of the pounded seed meal in 2 cups of water till the water is reduced to half . Take this thrice a day in small doses.

Indian Pennywort for Depression

Indian Pennywort has good Antidepressant properties. It curbs depression and its related symptoms.
Add 4 to 5 fresh leaves of Indian Pennywort in a cup of water. Boil it for 5 minutes on low flame. Strain and have it twice a day.
OR : Collect Indian Pennywort leaves. Dry them in shade. Put half a teaspoon of powder in a cup of water. Boil it for 10 minutes on low flame. Strain and have it twice a day.

Cypripedium Pubescens for Depression

Prepare tea with the leaves of Cypripedium Pubescens. Have two cups two times a day.

Rosa Rugosa for Depression

Prepare a syrup by adding Rosa Rugosa and 1/4th quantity of Honey to it. Take two tablespoon two times a day.

Sage for Depression

Prepare tea with a few leaves of Sage. Have two cups two times a day.

Sarsaparilla for Depression

Take half a cup of decoction of the leaves of Sarsaparilla two times a day.

Flaxseeds for Depression

Take a tablespoon of Flaxseed daily.

Pumpkin ( Kaddu ) Seeds for Depression

Chew half a teaspoon of Pumpkin ( Kaddu ) Seeds twice a day. It eases depression.

St John's Wort for Depression

Prepare a decoction of St John's Wort flowers. Consume 15 ml of it thrice a week.

Anacyclus Pyrethrum for Depression

Take 2 ml plant extract of Anacyclus Pyrethrum with lukewarm water. Have it once a day.

Spikenard for Depression

Make a decoction with roots of Spikenard. Drink 30 ml of it twice a day.
Cardamom ( Choti Ilaichi in India ) bears Antidepressant property. Therefore, it is useful to treat depression and associated symptoms by improving the mood.
Crush a Cardamom ( Choti Ilaichi in India ). Put it in a cup of water. Boil on low flame. Strain. Add little Honey. Drink it lukewarm once a day.
Take a light massage with aromatic oil of Ylang Ylang ( Van Champak ).

Roselle ( Guddahal ) Leaves for Depression

Roselle has antidepressant properties. It relaxes the nervous tension and gives relief from stress and anxiety.
Prepare a cup of tea from dried Hibiscus flowers.

Banana ( Kela ) for Depression

Banana ( Kela ) is rich in Tryptophan. Tryptophan is a type of protein that gets converted to Serotonin by the body. Serotonin is well known to relax the mind and improves the mood. This is a fact that Banana makes you feel happy. So have Bananas and stay away from depression.

Ravensara Essential Oil for Depression

Ravensara Essential Oil bears Antidepressant property. It refreshes the mood and combats depression.
Inhale the steam by putting 6 to 8 drops of Ravensara Essential Oil in one liter of boiling water. This will make you feel better.

Cinnamon Essential Oil for Depression

Cinnamon Essential Oil is a mood enhancer. It boosts up low spirits and makes you feel better.
Breathe in the aroma of undiluted Cinnamon Essential Oil for a minute.

Rose ( Gulab ) for Depression

Herbal Treatment For Depression 1

Grind Rosemary, Skullcap, Chinese Date and Oats together. Take this powder twice a day with lukewarm water.

Herbal Treatment For Depression 2

Herbal Treatment For Weakness

Weakness may strike anywhere. No matter where it shows itself, it mostly starts in the brain. It may be low libido. It may be in the form of depression. The cause may be stress. Most of the time one cannot put one's finger on the cause, yet a person may simply feel low. Sometimes you may just sit there, doing nothing, listless, not wanting to even move. Come on get up! Powder the following dried herbs and mix them in the measure given against each:
Withania Somnifera ( Ashwagandha ) : 2 tablespoon
Saffron ( Kesar ) : 5 to 8 strands
Asparagus Racemosus ( Shatavari ) : 1 tablespoon
Nutmeg ( Jaiphal ) : 1 tablespoon
Golden Bamboo ( Baans ) : 1 tablespoon
Indian Kudzu ( Vidari Kanda ) : 1 tablespoon
Add the extract of the following two herbs :
Indian Spider Plant ( Safed Musli ) : Extract : 1 tablespoon
Asphaltum ( Shilajit ) : Extract : 1 tablespoon
Store in a glass jar. Leave it for a week. After a week, take 2 pinches with a glass of lukewarm milk on alternate nights before going to bed.
These two pinches will relieve you of stress, enhance your mood, remove depression and lead you to a bout of healthy sex.
Note 1. This is not a classic aphrodisiac. It is not to be used like viagra or cialis. It should not be considered a love potion. This combination is to improve your overall health.
Note 2. It acts equally well for male and female. If you are a female and feeling low. This is for you.

To Herbpathy Team

Please advise the most effective single remedy or a combination of remedies for the following problem.
May be you will find that this is not a problem since there is no clinical problem and the daily routine is not affected due to this. For a self employed married person in mid forties with children, the feelings and thoughts are not encouraging in the morning and as the day progresses, the feelings become much better in the evening. Moral stands at a much higher level in the evening/night and mood gets highly jovial as compared to that in morning and afternoon. Feeling good to set goals but do not get inner instincts and not able to put in the sufficient efforts to complete the necessary duties and attain the set goals. There is a great contrast in the nature of feelings and emotions in morning and evening everyday and winter season seems more relaxing and encourages the good feelings. What will you call this and what is your diagnosis.
Will you please analyse and describe the problem and effective remedies for the same. Have not taken any medicine for this and never felt the medicines necessary to rectify the ups and downs of mood and feelings.

First of all let me tell you one thing that you are no sick at all. It is all in your mind. There might be some thing that is making you upset. I just give you a task that you need to follow at least for 1 month.
1. Join some dance classes and go with your partner.
2. Join some yoga classes and do it every morning for an hour.
3. Think positive. Remember this is your task. So play games, Go out with your family and stop thinking that you are sick.
4. Buy a bottle of Mucuna Pruriens and take 1 capsule every day.
5. Write us after one month. Study the results. Life is beautiful so love it and live it.

I have stomach problem. I also had dark brown stool for one month. I went for occult blood test in stool. It came positive. Doctor told me since I took pain killers that is why bleeding must have occurred. I started taking antacids and bleeding stopped. Right now I suffer from burning sensation in upper stomach. This burning sensation doesn't occur daily. Sometimes burning doesn't occur for days and then it comes back. My stool is now. I don't have constipation. I don't have nausea, vomiting etc. I have strange taste in my mouth and I don't feel normal hunger. Please advise me I want to use herbal medicine only.. Thanks

I don't know what's wrong. I just feel tired all the time. I was never much of a people person but I have started avoiding social gatherings and interaction almost completely and sometimes I just want to burst into tears for no particular reason at all.
Some days I can't sleep. It vanishes away and sometimes I sleep for hours. In the past two weeks I think have had an average of about 13-15 hours of sleep per day.
I don't want to talk to anyone. I feel moody and it's like there's a heavy weight somewhere on my heart.
I don't know why I'm feeling this way and I don't think I'm depressed... well I'm not really sure but I hope I'm not. Am I?

Please advise some effective remedies for the case I am describing.

It may not be a case of depression. But you will really understand what it is due to.
A married male with kids feels quite out of good mood as the day starts. No sleeping problem at all. As the day progresses till evening, feelings become good and mood also uplifts and enthusiasm grows. During the day, always feeling like delaying the daily routine jobs and does not let stress build up but in the inner self has the feeling that there are many things to be done which are not being completed at all due to lack of planning and coordination. Difficulty in moving ahead as per the reality.
