Materia Medica for Difficult Menses Single Herb
Grind Ashoka bark. Boil 2 teaspoons powder with one cup milk. Drink daily.
Prepare a decoction of the leaves of Wild Thyme. Take two times a day.
Put the entire Chickpea plant in hot water for an hour. Take a bath in the form of a sitting steam bath.
Prepare a decoction of Dong Quai roots and take 2 times daily. It gives relief in Difficult Menses.
Marigold ( Gendha ) Flower for Difficult Menses
Prepare an infusion of Marigold ( Gendha ) Flower. Take 2 teaspoons once a day.
OR Soak a handful of flowers in 2 cups of rectified alcohol for 5-6 weeks. Take 10-15 drops daily.
Sunflower seeds ( Surajmukhi ke beej ) for Difficult Menses
Boil 2 tsp Sunflower seeds in 600 ml water. Have 7 ml of the decoction once a day.
Have 1 tsp Sesame seeds powder with lukewarm water during Menstrual pain.
Drink 1 cup decoction of Ginger whenever you feel pain during Menses.
Or Chew 2 to 3 slices of Fresh Ginger 2 times in a day.
Boil 2 g Cinnamon bark in 1 glass of Milk. Drink once a day during Menses Pain.
OR : Mix One teaspoon of Honey and Half teaspoon of Cinnamon ( Dalchini ) In a glass of warm water. Drink thrice on the first day of your period
Or : Prepare a tea by boiling 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon ( Dalchini ) powder in a cup of water. Add some Honey and drink it 2-3 times a day before your periods start.
Drumstick For Difficult Menses
Prepare a decoction of Drumstick leaves. Drink 20 ml of it daily.
Birch ( Bhoj Patra ) as an Analgesic
The essential oil of Birch ( Bhoj Patra ) can be applied externally to relieve Headache, Menstrual Cramps, Abdominal Cramps, Gout, Rheumatism and other pains.
Boil one tablespoon in a glass of water. Take it twice a day.
Boil some leaves of Damiana. Use it as fomentation over Naval region. It acts as a painkiller.
Massage using Castor oil over Abdomen.
OR : Tie warm leaves of Castor plant over Abdomen.
Black Nightshade ( Makoya ) Leaves for Difficult Menses
Take 2 tablespoons juice of Black Nightshade ( Makoya ) Leaves 4 times a day during menses.
Mix fresh Mint leaves juice with Honey in equal quantity. Consume it 30 minutes after meals twice a day.
Fry 2 flowers of Shoe Flower plant in Butter. Take it with warm Milk once a day.
Take 1 tsp extract of Aniseed plant once a day.
Oregano ( Sathra ) Leaves for Difficult Menses
Chew fresh 5 Oregano ( Sathra ) Leaves twice a day during menses.
Consume 30 ml flower decoction of once a day. Take it before two days of your Menstrual Cycle begin.
It is sedative in nature that reduces pain and spasm. It also reduces the other problems like Anxiety, Stress and mood swings associated with Menstrual Problems.
Boil Chamomile ( Babunah ) leaves or flowers in some water and make a tea.
Drink hot to get relief from Menstrual Cramps and Muscle Soreness.
Drink Oregano Leaf tea 2-3 times a day.
Steep a handful of Parsley ( Ajmod ) leaves in a cup of boiling water for 5 minutes. Sieve and drink hot twice a day during periods.
Add few fresh Basil ( Tulsi ) leaves to a cup of boiling water. Remove it from heat and cover tightly. Cool and drink several times a day.
Put 2-3 drops of Basil ( Tulsi ) leaf juice in a cup of warm water. Drink after every 2-3 hours to ease Cramps.
Boil a handful of Coriander ( Dhaniya ) seeds in a glass of water till the water is reduced to half. Let it Luke warm and drink.
Note : You can also add some sugar for taste.
Take 2-3 tablespoons of Flax ( Alsi ) seeds daily during your menstrual cycle.
The Antispasmodic and Analgesic properties of Turmeric ( Haldi ) provide relief from the painful menses. As Turmeric ( Haldi ) is a good Emmenagogue, it increases the blood flow in Uterus and Pelvic area. Thus, eases the pain.
Mix half a teaspoon of Turmeric ( Haldi ) with half a teaspoon of Clarified Butter ( Ghee ). Heat for a while. Add this mixture in a glass of warm milk. Drink it.
Viburnum Prunifolium bark contains Salicin. This nutrient helps to reduce the pain and inflammation associated with Menses. Viburnum Prunifolium also gives relief from Lower Back Pain.
Grind the dried bark of Viburnum Prunifolium to make a powder. Add two teaspoons of this powder in a cup of water. Boil for 10 minutes. Drink thrice a day. It will give relief from pain and cramps during menses.
OR : Viburnum Prunifolium is also available in tincture form. Add quarter teaspoon of this tincture in half glass of lukewarm water. Drink it thrice a day.
Note : It is advised not to take it during the Menses. Take this before and after a week of your menstrual period.
Add 3 to 6 grams of root powder of Asparagus Racemosus into lukewarm milk and stir it well. Drink once a day.
Falxseed for Difficult Menses
Add Flaxseed to your Yogurt to maintain your Menses.
Make a decoction of Lemon Balm ( Billilotan ) leaf. Drink it warm twice a day to get rid of menses. Lemon Balm ( Billilotan ) provides relief from Menstrual Cramps and promotes sleep during the menses.
Prepare a decoction of Polygonatum root boiled in 100 ml of water. Steep it for 5 to 10 minutes. Drink this decoction daily to reduce Difficult Menses.
Black Cohosh have sedative property that eases the pain and gives relief from cramps.
Take dried rhizomes of Black Cohosh. Drink decoction every day.
Feverfew is helpful in reducing Pain and Uterine contraction.
Chew 4 to 5 fresh leaves of Feverfew every morning.
It has antispasmodic in nature, that helps to reduce spasms.
Take 10 drops of mother tincture 2 times in a day.

Herbal Treatment For Difficult Menses 1
Grind Viburnum Opulus, Wind Flower and Partridge Berry together. Take one teaspoon every day for 7 days.
Herbal Treatment For Difficult Menses 2
Take Black Haw and Jamaica Dogwood in equal quantity. Prepare a decoction. Take two times a day .
Herbal Treatment For Menstrual Disorders 6
Mix equal quantity of Indian Snakeroot root powder with Cubeb powder. Take quarter tsp of the mixture twice a day.
Attention : Do not consume if you are Pregnant.
Herbal Treatment For Difficult Menses 3
Take 2 tablespoons of Chaste Berry ( Nirgundi ) and One tablespoon each of burdock root and Red Clover ( Tripatra ).
Put all these herbs in some water and bring a boil.
Steep for 15-20 minutes and strain.
Drink cool 2-3 times a day before meals for 15-20 days.
Use with breaks to rest the system.

Take 2 tablespoons of Aloe Vera ( Gheekumari ) pulp. Add half tablespoon jaggery ( Gur ) and little amount of Asafoetida ( Hing ). Mix well. Have a pinch of this mixture twice a day.

Make a cup of black tea and add 2-3 teaspoons of Lemon Juice ( Nimboo in India ) some chopped Ginger ( Adrak in India ) and a teaspoon of Honey ( Shehad in India ). Drink after every 3-4 hours during the day.

Pour a pinch of Asafoetida, half teaspoon of Fenugreek powder and a pinch of Salt in one cup of Buttermilk. Mix them well and drink it.
