Muscles contraction and relaxation help us to move our body parts.
This function is a conscious effort.
An involuntary contraction for a short time is a Spasm.
An involuntary contraction for a longer time is a Cramp.
It is painful.
Cramps may occur in any part of the body. They are named after the body part. For example they may be called Abdominal Cramp, Leg Cramp, Hand Cramp, Foot Cramp.
A hand may have specially named cramp called the Writer's Cramp or Writer's spasm. This occurs when a person writes for a long time without rest.

Materia Medica for Cramps
Single Herb Viburnum Opulus ( Udvesta Chala in India ) is Antispasmodic in nature. It is useful for treating Menstrual Cramps. Especially in thighs.
Powder the dried Viburnum Opulus ( Udvesta Chala in India ). Boil 2 tablespoons of dried powder in a cup of water for l0-l5 minutes. Drink 2 to 3 times a day.
OR : Add quarter teaspoon of Viburnum Opulus ( Udvesta Chala in India ) tincture in half a glass of water. Drink it 2 to 3 times a day.
Note : It is advised that do not take it during menses. Take this before and after a week of your menstrual period.
Prepare a tea of Raspberry leaves. Drink it twice a day.
Drink Chamomile leaf tea once a day.
Clove ( Laung ) Oil for Cramps
Heat 2 teaspoons Clove ( Laung ) Oil. Massage on the affected part twice a day and cover.
Prepare an infusion by using half tablespoon Cayenne ( Lal Mirch ) powder per cup of boiling water. Take One tablespoon at a time.
Birch ( Bhoj Patra ) as an Analgesic
The essential oil of Birch ( Bhoj Patra ) can be applied externally to relieve Headache, Menstrual Cramps, Abdominal Cramps, Gout, Rheumatism and other pains.
Consume one Bladder Cherry thrice a day.
Having Pomelo juice daily helps to reduce body cramps..
The leaves of Water Pepper dipped in hot water are used topically to ease Cramps.

Take 6 to 10 drops of this Oil blend. Add 2 to 3 teaspoons of any Carrier Oil ( Coconut, Jojoba ) in it. Mix well. Apply it to the affected area. Gently massage for 10 to 15 minutes. Do this twice a day.
