i have lyme neuroborreliosis and noticed in Buhners book I should be taking uncaria rhynchopylla. Is that the same as uncaria tomentosa? Cats Claw? I get bad headaches, dizziness seizures and a bit crazy. I am on the knotweed it seems to be helping a bit. So now I'm ready to introduce the cats claw but confused.
Thank you Stacy

Uncaria rhynchopylla is a cousin of uncaria tomentosa. They get confused a lot, but they serve different purposes. Cat's claw, which you are taking, primarily boosts your own immune system so that you are better able to kill spirochetes. Uncaria rhynchopylla prevents death of brain cells by (1) calming inflammatory action of microglia and (2) putting a check on stress caused by glutamate that can otherwise cause mitochondria to work themselves to death, leading to brain cell death, which leads to more glutamate release, and then more excited, self-destructing brain cells. Nobody likes that, so take this helpful herb and save your brain while you go about getting your neuroborreliosis under control.
