Stages of Alzheimer’s Disease
1st Stage: This is the initial stage of Alzheimer’s Disease . The disease has set up and causes disruption in the nerve cells but the symptoms have not appeared yet.
Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI): In this a person may feel some memory problems. But the memory is not as degenerative that it may affect one’s personality. It may not be progressive degeneration that leads to Alzheimer’s Disease.
Alzheimer’s Dementia: In this stage the condition will become worse with aging of a person. The symptoms develop gradually and a person is not able to do his daily tasks. This causes dementia and interferes with the memory of a person. A person fails to recall his memory, identify objects and finds difficulty in recognizing faces. He takes time to think and to respond. He takes time to complete his regular tasks and seems confused all the time.

Possible cause of Alzheimer's
Old Age
Family History
Heart Disorders
Wrong eating habits
Other mental disorders
Blood Pressure Problem
Plaques: Formation of Plaque in the nerve cells. Plaque is thick deposition of proteins that causes disruption between the nerve cells. Nerve cells are transmitters that transmit signals between the body and Brain. But due to formation of plaque the nerve cells fail to work properly and lose their connection with the Brain. It may lead to death of the Nerve cells. Hence, it will affect mental health and learning ability of a person.

Your best bet is, Coconut oil.
No Sir ! Not for cooking.
Please take orally 2 table spoons every day for at least two months. You will then remember to take it all your life.

Differential Diagnosis : Amnesia is a disease of the Mind.
When a person is not able to remember events, memories, information and experiences it is Amnesia. It may be partial or total loss of memory. It may be caused due to damage to that part of the Brain that is used for memory processing.

Note : ( Loss of Smell a Harbinger of Alzheimer ) :
Are you finding it hard to differentiate between odor or gas?
It may be an early sign of Alzheimer. In Alzheimer the Brain cells get degenerated gradually. Studies have shown, that there is protein known as beta amyloid which start building up in the Brain. It may result into cognitive impairment whose first consequence the damage of sense of smell. If you are facing a problem with poor sense of smell, then there are some possibilities of developing Alzheimer in future.
Try to find the cause behind the poor sense of smell. But yes, if you have both the symptoms that is Cognitive impairment and Poor Sense of smell, then the chances of Alzheimer increases.

Note : People who are diabetic have more risks of getting Alzheimer's Disease.
Insulin regulates Blood Sugar. It also helps the Neurons to take Glucose for energy and regulates the Neurotransmitters for Memory and Learning. But eating too much fatty food disrupts the Insulin System. This may lead to permanent Neural damage and causes Alzheimer's Disease.

What Triggers Alzheimer??
Fatty and Sugary food. White sugar or artificial sweeteners.
Tap water may contains Fluoride, one of the causes to develop weak memory.
Hybrid Foods, uses of pesticides are damaging the original food quality.

Alzheimer General

Alzheimer is a disease of the brain. A chronic neurodegenerative disorder that attacks the brain cells is called Alzheimer. The brain cells begin to die and this leads to loss of Memory and Cognitive functions. The degeneration is slow in the beginning but the condition worsens over time. In initial stages Short term memory is affected. Gradually, the episodic memory, semantic memory and finally the procedural memory are impaired. As the disease advances reasoning, attention and language abilities are disrupted.

Alzheimer and Memory loss due to aging
Alzheimer’s disease is often confused with Memory loss due to aging. However, these two are separate problems of the brain. In fact, Alzheimer is not even a part of the normal aging process. If Alzheimer was a part of the normal aging process, then every person above 60 years of age would be suffering from Alzheimer.

Memory declines with aging
Having a slight decline in the memory with aging is normal. Generally, the decline is minor and it does not have an effect on daily activities of a person. However, if the change is severe and it disturbs the normal life of a person, then it may be Alzheimer.

Difference between Alzheimer and Memory loss due to aging
In age related Memory loss a person may forget a part of the conversation. In Alzheimer, a person forgets about the entire conversation, he even forgets that a conversation took place.

1) Hints or reminders may help a person with age related Memory Loss. In Alzheimer’s disease hints and reminders are of no benefit.
2) A person with age related Memory loss knows about his Memory Problem. However, a person with Alzheimer will never agree that he has a memory problem.
3) In age related Memory loss a person may recall the information later on. In Alzheimer’s disease the person is unable to recall information.
4) A person with age related Memory loss may forget your name but he knows that you are his friend. In Alzheimer the person completely forgets about you. He may not even recognize you. He may act like a stranger.
5) In age related Memory loss the vocabulary is intact. In Alzheimer the patient struggles with vocabulary. He may find difficulty in choosing the right words. He may call things with odd names, like calling a watch as hand clock.

Causes of Alzheimer’s disease?
The exact direct cause of Alzheimer’s disease is not known. However, a combination of genetics, life style and environmental factors are thought to be behind the occurrence of Alzheimer. Alzheimer is caused by death of the brain cells. As more and more brain cells die, brain shrinkage and increase in severity of Alzheimer symptoms is observed in the patient.

Beta-amyloid and Tau are two proteins responsible for the death of the brain cells.

Amyloid Plaques :
Beta-amyloid is a type of protein that damages and destroys the brain cells. Normally, it is eliminated out of the body. In Alzheimer’s disease, this protein gets collected around the brain cells and interferes with communication process of the cells. The accumulation of amyloid plaque is one of the main causes of the death of brain cells.

Neurofibrillary Tangles are the fibers found inside the brain cells. These fibers are involved in transport of nutrients between the nerve cells. The fibers are primarily made of a protein called Tau. In Alzheimer’s disease, the Tau protein goes abnormal. It causes formation of abnormal tangles inside the brain. The transport system is affected.

Who is at risk of Alzheimer’s disease?
The primary risk factors of Alzheimer are Aging, Genetics and Family History. Health conditions known for increasing the chances of Alzheimer are :
Stroke
Obesity
Diabetes
Heart Diseases
High Cholesterol
High Blood Pressure
Smoking and Tobacco intake

Dear Anuradha ji,
Brahmi is one of the top memory boosting herbs. It contains nitric oxide. Nitric oxide has a positive effect on the brain functioning. It is a great brain and mental tonic. It is a cure for number of problems like poor concentration, insomnia, insanity and Alzheimer. It reduces the rate of forgetfulness, improves memory span and retention of new information.

Amla is a rasayan herb. It is improves overall functioning in the body. The antioxidants in amla protect the nerve cells from free radical damage. It prevents diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s. It improves cognitive functioning, concentration and memory. Amla is high on iron it facilitates oxygen transportation in the body and prevents brain degeneration. It enhances immunity, neutralizes free radicals, prevents occurrence of cancer, reduces inflammation, purifies blood and improves skin and hair health.

The only issue in consuming Brahmi is, if the liver is bad, it will not allow Brahmi to reach the brain. It this case, applying Brahmi oil on the scalp is recommended. Secondly, you can take Brahmi tincture. Tincture directly enters the blood stream and reaches the brain.
