I was diagnosed with proctitis/ulcerative colitis over a year ago...I suffer with blood and mucus excretion up to 4 times per day, sometimes with some stool and sometimes without but always with an urgency.
The diagnosis seemed to coinside with taking many courses of antibiotics and steroids.
I have been on mesalazine and steroid suppositarys for many months but have decided to stop them and try herbal treatment. Since stopping, my symptoms have got slightly worse so Iam hoping you can offer some herbs to stop blood and mucus production?
I have tried many forms of dietary practises but nothing seems to make any difference. I eat very organic and balanced in general!
I would appreciate very much indeed some advice on specific herbs to help me...There is much contradiction and choice everywhere I look.
Thank you for the amazing website

Ashley Notoginseng is known to expel the blood clots. However, I will suggest that you take Chaste Berry tea. I have taken it for myself and have read a lot about Chaste Berry being the best herb to cure Hormonal Imbalance. Also, buy Dong Quai capsules, have one every day for a month.

I have been diagnosed with having a thickened uterine lining. I have had 5 transfusions from irregular bleeding since 2012. Of course severely anemic, taking a liquid iron supplement, folate feels improvement for a while, in the improvement of oxygenated blood count, then it's bled back out. Vicious exhausting cycle! But also, Read that this diurectic/"Hydrochlorothiazide", in my b/p med-Lisinopril, maybe the culprit, anyways in my case. This info is written in one of the US-cancer med. journals. Explaining how this particular diurectic causes various epithelial cells to grow out of control. As I reflect back my bleeding started within the timeline/year, of when this diurectic was added to my existing b/p med lisinopril. I am still currently experiencing all the classic symptoms of Anemia, brain fog, hair thinning and fall out, tiredness-no energy, heart pounding upon any physical movement. Now added Graviola/Sour-Sop, to correct the out-of-control-growth of uterine epithelial cells. Info on this herb also claims, blood building benefits. I pray that it aids in correction of my issues, for sure. All of that info to ask, is there anything else that can be of use to me? Thanks

Dear Rbn, We are extremely sorry we couldn't reply to your query. Due to some technical issue, we were unable to see this query. Sorry to hear about your father. Please reply to the following questions: 1. Is he taking Notoginseng? If yes, then please stop the medicine for now. It is known to expel anything that appears foreign to the body, resulting in excessive bleeding which may not be controlled by you or your father in case he has any clots. 2. Which other medicines is he taking? We have forwarded the case to our experts for exact remedy.

Can notoginseng cause pain in joints and muscle,? I have been taking it due to left side frozen shoulder, since then been having ichy fingers in the joints on right hand, then left hand then today both leg muscles and knees feels so achy that I really Don't know what to do. Please help

Hey Carey. Notoginseng is not known to cause any such side effect. Well, go for homeopathic medicine, it can help you. You can opt oils for massage otherwise. You can use Coconut oil, Sesame oil, Garlic for massage. Check Frozen shoulder page, you might find something more suitable to you. Physio massages also help in such cases. For pains, take Ashwagandha: Take 1 teaspoon of Ashwagandha powder with a glass of warm milk. Take it for 15 days.
Massage joints with Sesame and castor oil for 15-20 min. Massage will improve blood circulation in muscles and joints. It might ease your pain.
The pain sometimes passes on to the hands. But as you have joint pains, observe yourself to reach the reason.

Dear James Chaama
Please mention the correct blood pressure readings. Do you mean 160 and 170. ?
If yes, gthen please be careful if you are already on any kind of blood thinng medicines or antidepprsants. Also if you have any clot in your body, blood clot-- then take this tea with caution. If you are not on any medications, then; Having the tea twice a week is okay. Monitor your blood pressure, if it lowers down then you may stop taking it. You may read High Blood pressure page in our disease section so that you are aware of other herbs for it, which are much safer.

Dear James. As mentioned above take the tea twice a week. Monitor your blood pressure, if it lowers down then you may stop taking it. In case it doesn't suit you, do not take it.
Otherwise, you can take Giloy herb ( Tinospora Cordifolia )- mother tincture in the routine if you are not taking any allopathic medicines. Take 2-3 drops in a glass of water daily. Keep a regular check of your readings.
