Description
Blepharitis is a disease of the Eyelids.
The inflammation of the eyelids is Blepharitis.
A dandruff like crust appears on the eyelashes.
It is caused either by the bacterial infection or some skin condition, such as acne rosacea.
When the oil glands present within the eyelids are impaired it causes Blepharitis.
It is a chronic disease and are of two types
Anterior Blepharitis : It occurs at the outer skin of the eyelids where eyelashes are attached. It is caused by the bacteria (Staphylococcal Blepharits).
Posterior Blepharitis : It attacks the inside area of the eyelids that are in contact with the eyeballs. It is caused by the dysfunction of oil glands present near the eyelashes. They produce an irregular production of oil and create an environment for the bacterial growth.

Dysfunction of oil glands
Lice infestation in the Eyelashes

Materia Medica for Blepharitis
Single Herb Boil the dried plant of Eyebright in water. Cool and strain. Wash your eyes with it.
Apply Tea Tree oil on the infected eye using a cotton bud. Use it thrice a day.
Place 3 tsp Sunflower oil in your mouth. Swirl it for 15 minutes. Then spit it out.
Caution : Do not swallow or gargle with Sunflower oil.
Take one tablespoon Dodder ( Amar Bel ) juice. Add little sugar. Apply on the affected eye twice a day.
