Description

Glaucoma is a disease of the Eyes.
The increased pressure of the fluid within the eye is Glaucoma. The pressure is Intraocular Pressure (IOP) and the fluid is Aqueous Humor.
When the drainage tubes within the eye are blocked, it prevents the eye fluid to drain away and causes Glaucoma.
It may damage the optic Nerve.
The Aqueous Humor is a clear watery fluid secreted by ciliary body present behind the Iris.
The drainage tubes within the eye drains this fluid properly.
If the fluid does not drained properly it leads to a buildup of pressure in the eye.
Normally the fluid helps to nourish the nearby tissues.
People with old age and poor vision are more at risk of Glaucoma. If you are Diabetic, having thin Cornea or taking some kind of medications, then you may develop Glaucoma.

Types of Glaucoma are
Closed Angle Glaucoma : The fluid flows through the tubes present between the iris and the cornea. The narrow angle of the drainage tube causes Closed Angle Glaucoma. It causes pain and rapid vision loss.

Open Angle Glaucoma : The structure of the tube is normal but the fluid does not flow properly in the tube.
