Description
Trichiasis is a disease of the Eye.
Eye lashes normally grow outwards from the edge of the eye lids.
Some times the lashes grow inwards. In this case they rub against the eye balls, while blinking.
The abnormal position of the eyelashes causes irritation.
The ingrowing hair of the eyelashes causes damage to the cornea.
Causes of Trichiasis
Trauma
Trachoma
Inflammation
Skin Disease
Injury to Eyelids
Autoimmune Disease
Chronic Blephritis
Swelling of Eyelids
If not treated properly, Trichiasis may cause
Loss of Vision
Conjunctival Ulceration
