Description
Diplopia is a disease of the Eyes.
Normally, human Eyes focus on an object and a single image is formed. If a person sees two images of an object, it is Diplopia.
The Eyes focus from two different angles to produce a binocular image. Both the Eyes send slightly different images to the Brain. The Brain makes the different images into one clear image with depth. However, in Diplopia, the Brain fails to join the two different images and it creates a Double Vision.
Types of Diplopia are
Binocular Diplopia : It occurs if there is misalignment in the Eyes or one Eye is covered. In this, the coordination is missing between both the Eyes.
Monocular Diplopia : It occurs only in one Eye. Cover the good eye. See only with the affected Eye. Now you will see two images.
Physiological Double Vision : It is not related to the object that has been focused on by the Eye. It is related to the background objects.
