Description
Hypermetropia is a disease of the Eyes.
A vision condition in which the patient cannot see near objects clearly. However, he may be able to see far off objects clearly.
It occurs if the Eyeball is too short or the Cornea has too little structure so the light entering the eye is not focused properly.
When the light strikes the Cornea, it refracts the light into the lens. The Lens focus this light on to the Retina. The Retina makes an image in the Brain.
If either the Cornea or the Lens is irregular, they do not refract Light properly.
Causes of Hypermetropia
It usually occurs due to imperfect shaping of the eyeball or the lens, causing an inability to focus on objects that are near. When the objects comes closer to the Eyes the lens or the Cornea loses significant power to be able to focus.
If not treated properly, Hypermetropia may cause
Crossed Eyes
Cataract
Glaucoma
