Description
Pemphigus is a disease of the Skin and the Mucus Membrane.
The autoimmune Disease that causes painful blisters on the Skin and the Mucus Membrane is Pemphigus.
It affects the Mouth, Nose, Eyes and the Genitals.
Normally the Immune System fights the Foreign Bodies. It releases antibodies when it finds any threat to the Body. But in Pemphigus the Immune System attacks the top most layer of the Skin that is Epidermis and cells of the Mucus Membrane. There is a protein present in the Skin that is Desmogleins. This protein forms a glue that attaches the cells with one another. But when the Immune System attacks this protein it breaks the pattern of the cells and the damage causes painful Blisters.
