Description
Erythema is a disease of the Skin.
The Skin condition which causes redness and rashes on the Skin is called Erythema.
Erythema is caused by an allergic reaction or an injury to the Skin. The Skin redness is resulted by the dilation of the capillaries.
Types of Erythema
Photosensitive Erythema : The Skin becomes sensitive to the Ultra Violet ( UV ) radiations. It is caused by an infection or a reaction to certain medication.
Erythema Multiforme : The exact cause of Erythema Multiforme is unknown. It maybe a result of an infection like Herpes Simplex Virus or a reaction to certain medication. It causes spots or lesions on the Skin.
Erythema Nodosum ( EN ) : It is caused by an inflammation in the fatty layer of the Skin. As a result lumps or red nodules are formed on front side of the legs just below the knees.
