Excessive consumption of anything may cause bad effects. Similarly, excessive intake of Mangosteen also have side effects.

It may cause Allergic Reactions like Swelling, Itching, Rashes, Skin Redness and Hives. It may also cause some serious problems like Chest Pain, Swelling of mouth, lips or throat.
It may cause Insomnia, Muscle Ache, Joint Pain, Headache and Nausea.
Avoid the consumption during Pregnancy and Breast Feeding.
High dosage may cause excessive sedation. It contains high amount of Xanthones that may cause toxicity in the body. This may effect the Central Nervous System.
Patients with Diabetes and Irritable Bowel Syndrome should avoid its excessive consumption. As it may lead Constipation or Loose Stools.
It is restricted for the patients suffering from Polycythemia Vera , as it increases the count of red blood cells to an extent.
It inhibits the process of blood clotting in the body. The interaction of xanthones with the blood thinning medication may cause Gastrointestinal Bleeding.

For Cancer Patients: Do not consume Mangosteen if you are taking chemotherapy drugs. As it may interact with the drugs and destroys the free radicals. Chemotherapy drugs rely on free radicals to fight against tumor.
Mangosteen contains powerful Antioxidants. In a healthy persons, Antioxidants are needed to destroy Free Radicals.

Rind soaked in any oil such as almond or olive oil : Eczema, Skin Rashes
Decoction of the Root : Regulates Menstruation
Bark extract : Amebic dysentery

Mangosteen for Diarrhea

Consume 1 ripe fruit of Mangosteen in a day.

Mangosteen for Leucorrhoea

Prepare a decoction with bark of Mangosteen. Drink 50 ml of it once a day.

Grind dried fruit of Mangosteen to make powder. Have 5 g of it once a day.
