Pine Sylvestris General

Scotch Pine or Scots Pine is an evergreen coniferous tree. It is widely recognized as Pine of Deodar. Different parts of the tree have different medicinal benefits.
Pine Needles have Anti Depressant effect. A Pine Needle decoction added to bath gives a relaxing effect. Herbally, Pine baths are considered effective in the treatment of Rheumatism, Gout, Paralysis, Scrofula and Skin Diseases.
Pine Buds contain essential oils and Vitamin C. The buds possess Disinfectant and Expectorant properties. It is best used to cure Bronchitis.
Scots Pine is Diuretic in nature. It treats Fever, Constipation, Bronchitis.
Scots Pine Pitch is obtained after distillation of tar from wood of the tree. It is used topically as a medication to cure Skin ailments as Eczema, Psoriasis and open wounds. It can also be taken internally to cure Piles.
The Resin produced from the branches and stems of the plant is Antiseptic in nature. It can be taken internally to cure Respiratory Tract problems.
The seeds of the plant are used to cure Bladder infection, Tuberculosis and Bronchitis. A decoction of Pinus Sylvestris seeds is used externally to treat extreme Vaginal discharge.
The leaves and young flowers possesses Antiseptic and Expectorant properties. It is used to treat Respiratory problems. Medical preparation of leaves cures Chest problems, and treats Arthritis and Rheumatism. Leaves boiled in water are used for bath. It alleviates tiredness, nervous exhaustion, Insomnia and Skin disorders.
The inner bark of Scotch Pine or Scots Pine is edible. The bark is dried and powdered. The powder is used to make bread and oatmeal.
