Ximenia Americana General
Ximenia Americana is commonly known as Tallow Wood. The plant parts are used differently for medicinal purposes.
The plant leaves and twigs are laxative. An Infusion of leaves is used to treat Fever and Cold. The Infusion is also used as a mouthwash for relieving Toothache. It is also used as an Eye lotion.
The leaves are used to treat Headaches, Angina and as a Poison Antidote.
The roots of Tallow Wood cure Skin problems, Headache, Leprosy, Hemorrhoids, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Guinea Worm, Sleeping Sickness and Oedema.
The fruit useful in treating Constipation. In large quantities, it acts as a vermifuge. The skin of the fruit is Astringent in nature.
The bark of the plant is used in decoction, powder or dried form. The powdered form is applied topically for Skin Ulcers. It is also used in bath for sick children. It is a good remedy for Kidney and Heart problems.
