Zanthoxylum Nitidum is a flowering plant. It is prickly and erect shrub. The plant is gathered from the wild. The flowers of the plant are dioecious. The individual flowers are either male or female. The different plant parts like leaves, fruits, stem, bark, seeds and roots are used medicinally against different diseases.
A decoction of the root is used in the treatment of Fever, Rheumatism, Toothache, Stomachache and Boils.
A decoction of the leafy branches acts as a coolant, disinfectant and bechic. It is used as a gargle to treat inflamed throat.
The bark is a used to treat toothache. It acts as a counter irritant.
The bark and roots of the plant contains resin. Resin is a powerful stimulant and tonic.
The fruit of the plant is very beneficial medicinally. It possesses Astringent, Stomachic, Anthelmintic and Aromatic stimulant property. It treats Stomach ache, Catarrh, Rheumatism, Lumbago and Uterine Haemorrhage.
The methanol extract of stem wood of Zanthoxylum Nitidum possesses Anti inflammatory property.
The plant is also used as an Insecticide.
