Yerba Mansa General

The root and Rhizome of Yerba Mansa are used medicinally. It is also used as a Pain Killer, Disinfectant and Tonic.
A decoction of Yerba Mansa root is taken internally for Cold, Cough and Menstrual cramps. It is used used for chronic lung problems, Cystitis and Stomach ache. Dried Yerba Mansa roots stepped in water are used to treat Stomach disorders.
An Infusion of the roots acts as a Diuretic. It can be used to treat Rheumatic diseases, Gout and painful Inflammation of the Joints.
The cold leaf tea of the plant is beneficial. It is used as a wash for blisters, Insect bites, Poison ivy, Sunburn and Ringworm.
A poultice of leaves is used to treat sore muscles and aches.
The herb prevents Kidney stones. It prevents the build up of Uric Acid crystals in the Kidneys.
Yerba Mansa possesses Antiinflammatory effect. It treats Arthritis and Inflammatory diseases.
How to take :
Yerba Mansa can be taken in the form of Tincture as well as Infusion.
Infusion : An infusion or decoction can be made by boiling herb in water. The solution is strained and used then.
Tincture : A tincture made from Yerba Mansa herbs is used medicinally. The tincture can also be diluted and used as a Gargle.

I have been diagnosed as having allergic rhinitis however as it is all year round I have wondered if it is a fungal infection as I am prone to atletes feet and thrush. Can anyone recommend Yerba Mansa as a nasal spray.

If taking yerba mansa for chronic lung ailment which may have a fungal origin, what is the dosage per day of yerba mansa tincture and for how long should one take it? Is there any risk by taking it over too long a period of time?

No. Please do not. For a detox take Dong Quai capsules and Coriander leaves to your vegies and salad.

Dear Angela,

Yerba Mansa is not effective herb for Kidney failure. Following herbs will help in rejuvenating the Kidneys:
1. Tribulus Terrestris ( Gokhru ): Take Tribulus Terrestris ( Homeopathic medicine ) - Mother Tincture for 1 month. Take 5 drops in half a glass of water once in the day. It is so effective, that it will even help to avoid Dialysis. The best Herb for Kidney Disorders.
2. Boerhevia Diffusa ( Punarnava ): It is a diuretic and a great Herb for Kidney Failure. Take Boerhevia Diffusa extract for 3 months. Take 1 teaspoon daily.
3. Chicory- Take Chicory capsules for 1 month.
4. Drumstick: Take Drumstick soup or make a pickle of Drumstick and use it daily.

I have had a broken arm for the past 3 years, the bone starts to bridge but never heals properly is there an natural product you would recomend in helping bone heal, Yerba was sugested by my pastor but what I have read about Yerba sofar I dont think it was meant for that purpose.

Try using Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum) use the leaves to wrap around broken bones.

I'm a little late in responding, but comfrey might help you. It is a bone-knitting herb. Use externally as a poultice.
