Phyllanthus Niruri The two are different from each other and are used for different diseases.
Phyllanthus Amarus General
Phyllanthus Amarus or Sleeping plant is also known as Bhui Amla in India. It is an annual herb, 15-45 cm high, branched from the base, with an erect stem naked below and slender leafy angular branches above. Leaves are very small i.e 6-8 mm.
It is used for the treatment of Jaundice, Leucorrhoea, Dyspepsia, Colic, Diarrhea, Gonorrhea.
It is also useful in Diabetes, Liver Diseases, Scabies and Ringworms.
The herb and its root have exhibited antiviral actions on Hepatitis-B.
The decoction of the root and leaves cures Intermittent fevers.
Juice is used to cure skin diseases, ulcer, sores, swelling and itchiness, wounds, bruises.
Fresh leaf paste has wound healing capacity and used to cure white spots on skin.
The whole plant extract is used in treating urinary problems & swelling of liver.
The flower paste of plant is applied externally as antidote against snake bite.
