Plant enriches the soil with fertilizing results. Is virtually impossible to propagate by seeds. asparagus size short stalks water rooted work best for propagation. It can also be a perennial in zones 9B. Very subject to leaf blight, although subsequent leaves form after leaf withers and falls. very showy for about 2 weeks in late October drawing massive insects to the flower. freezes back to ground by comes back in spring. Its often confused with other sunflower varieties but grows wild in Mexico where it has other construction and soil enrichment uses. Unusual leaf pattern. Contributors of information often miscatalog it as another species. grows well beyond 12 feet in zone 9b.

I have used the leaves to control diseases in poultry! Worked well for both broilers and layers. Pound leaves and wash the chlorophyll in water and let poultry drink. No much data is know on what volume of water for what quantity of wet leaves

fabaeceaes(beans) usually deposit nitrates by way of rhizal deposits created by bacteria which live on their roots. Stick to non-invasive or crop varieties if possible.. potatoes are also a good idea...

Plant yucca for its saponin. Then grind into powder and mix with soil. This will act like soap or wetting agent and allow clay to mix with your sand and help retain moisture. Mix in clay with your sandy soil at small amounts. No more than 10%. Then plant Crotalaria Juncea. This plant is a legume that not only does it fix nitrogen in the soil but it has a miticide agent in its roots that kills bad nematodes. It also flowers all year where its warm and all kinds of bees can get nectar all year. The stem is also very fibrous so it make a lasting mulch unlike other legumes.
