Description

Rickets is a disease of the Bones.
The disease caused by deficiency of Vitamin D, Calcium and Phosphate is Rickets.
It makes the bones soft, weak and out of shape. It causes bow shaped legs. The bones become prone to fractures.
Vitamin D regulates the level of Calcium and Phosphate in the body. It is needed to develop strong bones and keeps them in shape.
When the Skin is exposed to sunlight it releases Vitamin D. Deficiency of Vitamin D causes abnormal accumulation of calcium in the body. The bones get
deformed.

Rickets that is caused by the malfunctioning of the Kidneys is known as Kidney or Renal rickets. Normally, the Kidneys also regulates the calcium and phosphate in the Body. Any damage to kidneys causes loss of Phosphate and Calcium in the body , as a result it give rise to the Rickets.

The deficiency of Vitamin D in the Body makes the bones soft and it is known as Osteomalacia. It occurs in adult. Osteomalacia is dealt with separately on this portal.

I have a son, 4 years old. He is bow legged. Does not walk as a 4 yr old should. Some one suggested homwopathy. I am skeptical. Should I go in for it.

I have been using homeopathy for my chronic health problems for a couple years now and most work really well. It is usually mjuch cheaper than conventional medicines. Everything is natural ingredients so as not to hurt the child.Just read everything mentioned in this site about condition.
