Osteomalacia is a disease of the Bones.
The deficiency of Vitamin D makes the Bones soft, and the condition is known as Osteomalacia.
The Bones are made up of Calcium and Phosphorus that provides a hardness to the Bones. They also contain collagen that provides flexibility to the Bones.
Normally, we get Vitamin D from the foods or it is made in the Skin when exposure to the sunlight. Vitamin D helps in regulating the Calcium and phosphate to make the bones strong. However, lack of Vitamin D causes weak bones.
The Skin, Kidneys and the Liver help in the synthesis of Vitamin D. If anything goes wrong with these organs, it may also give rose to Osteomalacia.
