Description
Bronchiolitis is a disease of the Lungs.
The inflammation of the Bronchioles of the Lungs is Bronchiolitis.
Bronchioles are the microscopic small air tubes of the Lungs. They extend from the Bronchus and connect with Air sacs (Alveoli).
It is caused by Viral infections and is most common in children.
The infection causes swelling and inflammation of the Bronchioles. This results in the excessive formation of mucus and shortness of breath.
Causes of Bronchiolitis
Flu
Influenza
Common Cold
Viral Infection
Infection from another person
Direct contact with infected person
If not treated properly, Bronchiolitis may cause
Fatigue
Sleep Apnea
Respiratory Failure
Note 1 . Bronchiolitis is caused by a Virus. Antibiotics will not help.
Babies exposed to tobacco smoke are at risk. Passive smoking may damage your Baby’s health. It causes Breathing problems like Bronchiolitis worse.
