Hydronephrosis is a disease of the Kidneys.
The blockage in the Urinary tract which causes swelling in the Kidneys is known as Hydronephrosis.
The Urinary System involves, Kidneys, Bladder, Urethra and two pipes known as Ureters. Kidneys are the filtration plant of the Body. Normally, they drain Urine into the Bladder with the help of the Ureters. Once the bladder is full of Urine, it produces an urge to urinate. The Urine gets excreted out of the Body with the help of Urethra.
When something goes wrong and causes obstruction in the Urinary Tact, the Urine fails to get expelled from the Body. It goes back to the Kidneys. As a result, the Kidneys get swollen. This causes pressure on the surrounding organs which leads to Pain and Discomfort.
If the obstruction occurs on both sides, it affects both the Kidneys.
