Description
Galactorrhea is a disease of the Breasts.
Galactorrhea is the spontaneous discharge of milk from the nipples. It is not connected with childbirth or nursing.
The production of milk during nursing is regulated by the Prolactin Hormone. This hormone is under the control of Pituitary Gland. Any disorder with the pituitary gland may cause over production of Prolactin Hormone. This may results in Galactorrhea.
It causes loss of appetite and irregular menses.
It is not necessarily a diseased condition. An emotionally delicate and sensitive woman may experience a flow of milk on hearing some one else's baby crying.
