Breast Engorgement is a disease of the Breast.
The overfilling of Breasts with Breast milk that causes pressure and pain in the Breasts, is Breast Engorgement. It is caused due to the imbalance between the milk supply and the infant's demand. It occurs if the mother stops Breast Feeding soon after giving birth to her child.
Normally, a few days before delivery a female's breast produces colostrum. It is a yellow liquid that contains nutrients and antibodies. It is very essential for new born baby. Once the baby is born, the Breast starts making milk and the Breast becomes heavy. Breast Engorgement may cause blockage in milk ducts that may lead to Breast infections.

Mastitis
Breast Cancer
Note : For immediate relief, it is best to use a suction pump to draw out the excessive milk from the Breasts.
