Description
Inguinal Hernia is a disease of the Abdomen.
The protrusion of the intestine through the weak abdominal wall is Inguinal Hernia.
The intestine protrudes through the inguinal canal. It occurs in the lower abdomen near the pubic area.
Different types of Inguinal Hernia are:
Direct Inguinal Canal : When the intestine protrudes from the weak part of the abdominal muscles it is direct inguinal canal.
Indirect Inguinal Canal : There is an internal opening in the inguinal canal. This opening should close at the time of the birth. But in any case if the opening does not close, then the intestine slips through this opening and it leads to Indirect Inguinal Canal. It is more common in males then in females.

Obesity
Ascites
Pregnancy
Constipation
Chronic Cough
Heavy Weight Lifting
Weak spot in the abdominal wall
If not treated properly, Inguinal Hernia may cause
Vomiting
Death
Strangulation
Pressure on the surrounding organs
