Description

Sunburn is a disease of the Skin.
The redness of the skin caused by the excessive exposure of Ultra Violet rays of the Sun is Sunburn.
It causes inflammation and peeling of the skin.
UV rays affect the living tissues and damage the Skin. The defense system of the body increases the production of the melanin. It stops the further damage of the Skin.
Melanin is a dark pigment present in the Skin. It gives color to the Skin.

Single Herb

Cucumber ( Kheera ) for Sunburn

Cucumber ( Kheera ) is not only a cooling agent, but also contains Analgesic and Antioxidant properties. These properties foster the healing process and give relief from discomfort. Use of Cucumber ( Kheera ) reduces the redness, inflammation and swelling associated with Sunburn.
Apply fresh Cucumber ( Kheera ) juice or paste over the affected area.

Onion ( Pyaz ) for Sunburn

The Anti-inflammatory property of the Onion ( Pyaz ) is beneficial to treat Sunburn. It gives relief from inflammation associated with Sunburn and reduces the redness.
Squeeze the juice of an Onion ( Pyaz ). Add one tablespoon of Milk ( Dudh ) and a pinch of salt. Mix them well. Apply over affected parts for half an hour and then wash with cold water.

Lemon ( Nimbo ) for Sunburn

Vitamin C present in Lemon ( Nimbo ), acts as a sheet against the UV rays. Also, It is a natural disinfectant which helps the healing process.
You may rub a sliced Lemon ( Nimbo ) on the affected part. But, remember, not to do it, if you have sensitive skin.
OR : Dilute 2 tablespoons of Lemon ( Nimbo ) juice in half a cup of water. Dip a soft cloth in the solution and wring slightly. Dab the cloth over the affected skin. Wait for 4 to 5 minutes. Repeat the process 4 to 5 times, at the same period of time.
OR : Take a Lemon ( Nimbo ) and squeeze the juice. Add little sugar or salt. Mix well. Apply on the affected part and rub in circular motion. Keep for 10 minutes and then wash off.
Note : Do not go out in the sun with lemon on your skin.
Aloe Vera ( Gheekumari ) is a good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Folic Acid and Choline. These all nutrients, increase the supply of oxygen to the skin. Thus, it helps to reduce the inflammation and fastens the healing process.
Cut a leaf of Aloe Vera ( Gheekumari ). Extract the gel out from leaf. Rub the gel on the tanned area for 10 minutes. Do it twice a day.
Apple Cider Vinegar ( Seb Ka Sirka ) has Anti-inflammatory property. This property is potent to tranquilize the pain and gives soothing effect.
The minerals and vitamins present in Apple Cider Vinegar ( Seb Ka Sirka ), provide essential nutrients to rejuvenate the skin.
Dilute Apple Cider Vinegar ( Seb Ka Sirka ) with water in 1:1 ratio. Apply it using cotton or cloth on affected areas.
Bottle Gourd ( Ghiya ) gives soothing effect to the sun burnt skin. It also provides relief from inflammation and heals the skin.
Wash and peel a fresh Bottle Gourd ( Ghiya ). Cut in to thin slices. Rub on the affected part for 15 minutes. Let it dry and wash. Do it twice or thrice a day.

Plantago for Sunburns

Prepare a tea made from the leaves of English Plaintain. Wash the affected area with this liquid.

Bayberry ( Kafal ) for Sunburn

Prepare a tea made from the leaves of Bayberry. Have 2-3 times a day.

Marigold ( Gendha ) for Sunburns

Marigold ( Gendha ) possesses Anti-inflammatory and soothing effects. These effects, help to calm the inflammation and heal the affected skin.
Boil half a liter of distilled water. Now, put two handful of petals of Marigold ( Gendha ) flower in a jar. Pour the boiled water over them and cover. Let them steep, do not touch the jar for a couple of hours. Place it in refrigerator. Apply 2 to 3 layers of this preparation over the affected skin, one after another. Let it dry. Wash with normal water.
OR : Buy Marigold ( Gendha ) extract from the market or make your own. Apply the extract directly with a piece of Cotton cloth or Cotton balls. Let it dry and then, wash with normal water.
OR : Variety of Creams, containing Marigold ( Gendha ), are also available in the market.
Baking Soda ( Meetha Soda ) restores the Acid and Alkaline balance of the skin. Thus, it helps in quick healing and reduces inflammation.
Soak the affected part, in a tub of water containing half a cup of Baking Soda ( Meetha Soda ). Keep the affected part dipped for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, wash with normal water.
Apply Almond Oil ( Badam Ka Tel ) at the bed time daily. It removes tanning and gives a glowing and healthy skin. Its process may be slow but patience will bring good results.

Carrot ( Gaajar ) for Sunburn

Drink one glass of fresh Carrot ( Gaajar ) juice daily. It recovers damaged skin from sun.

Tomato ( Tamatar ) for Sunburn

Tomato ( Tamatar ) contains good amount of Lycopene which is an ideal Antioxidant. There, Tomato ( Tamatar ) protects the skin from UV rays and prevents from damage.
Take a Tomato ( Tamatar ). Cut it, into 4 to 5 slices. Rub it over the affected skin for 15 to 20 minutes. Let it Dry and wash with normal water.

Oats ( Jae ) for Sunburn

Add water in a tablespoon of Oats ( Jae ) meal. Heat for a minute. Apply it over affected area. Don't rub. Let it dry. Wash with normal water.

Green Tea for Sunburn

Catechin present in Green Tea, fights against harmful radiation of the Sun. On the other hand, Tannic Acid of Green Tea gives soothing effect to the affected area.
Boil a teaspoon of Green Tea in half a cup of water until it remains 1/4th. Apply it over the affected area. Let it dry. Wash with normal water. In addition, having a cup or two of Green Tea may add to the process.

Milk ( Dudh ) for Sunburn

Use of Milk ( Dudh ) is the simplest and quickest way to relieve the sun burnt skin. Chilled Milk ( Dudh ) soothes the inflammation
Take chilled Milk ( Dudh ). Add equal quantity of water. Apply it over affected area with cotton. Do it twice a day.
Soak the sun burnt area in chilled milk for 15 to 20 minutes. Do it 2 to 3 times a day.
OR : Dip a cotton cloth piece in chilled milk. Dab it over the affected skin for few minutes. Do it 2 to 3 times a day.
Coconut Oil ( Nariyal Ka Tel ) contains Fatty Acids, which help the skin to revitalize and soothe the inflammation. Moisture obtained from Coconut Oil ( Nariyal Ka Tel ) by the skin, does not allow the skin to peel off.
Wash the affected area with water. Pat dry. Apply Coconut Oil ( Nariyal Ka Tel ) over the affected area twice a day.

Potato ( Aalu ) for Sunburn

Potato ( Aalu ) has a compound, named Starch, which is beneficial to treat Sunburn. It soothes the Inflammation and diminishes the redness.
Peel a potato Potato ( Aalu ). Blend. Apply paste over affected area for half an hour. Wash with normal water.
OR : You may simply rub a slice of Potato ( Aalu ) over the affected area. Do it for 10 to 15 minutes 2 to 3 times a day.
OR : Crush the Potato ( Aalu ). Squeeze out the juice and apply over the sun burnt skin. Wash after an hour or two.

Honey ( Shehad ) for Sunburn

Honey ( Shehad ) is a natural moisturizer and has good healing property. It helps the skin regain its lost moisture and soothes the inflammation by its Anti-inflammatory effect.
Take a teaspoon of Honey ( Shehad ). Apply it over the affected area with wet hands. Let it dry. Wash with normal water.

Watermelon ( Tarbuz ) for Sunburn

Watermelon ( Tarbuz ) is a rich source of Lycopene. Lycopene is an Antioxidant which protects us from Ultra Violet rays.
Eat a bowl full of Watermelon ( Tarbuz ) daily. It is a good fruit in summer. Also, Apply it's juice on the face and let it dry. Wash with normal water.

Yogurt ( Dahi ) for Sunburn

Yogurt ( Dahi in India ) has cooling effect which soothes the sun burnt skin immediately. Main thing, Yogurt ( Dahi in India ) maintains the acid and alkaline balance of the skin, which helps in quick healing.
Massage the affected skin with Yogurt ( Dahi in India ) for 10 to 15 minutes.
Lavender Essential Oil bears soothing property, which may eliminate the discomfort from the sun burnt skin.
Apply Lavender Essential Oil over the affected skin. Leave it for several hours. Do it twice a day.
OR : Add 10 to 15 drops of Lavender Essential Oil in your bathing tub. Soak the affected skin for 20 to 30 minutes. Do it once a day.
Drink 20 to 30 ml Goji Berry ( Kad Mool ) juice daily. It reduces the effect of harmful sun rays and protect your skin from burning naturally.

Tea for Sun Burn

Dip a tea bag in a hot cup of water for 10 min. Let it cool, now dip a cotton cloth in that tea. Apply this on the affected area. Apply daily to get better results.
Take one cup of water and add ten drops of Peppermint Essential Oil in it. Spray this blend on the affected area. Repeat the process as needed to get relief.
It helps to cool Sunburn.

Herbal Treatment For Sunburn 1

Take a Cucumber ( Khira ). Wash and peel it. Grind. Add 2 tablespoons of chilled Milk ( Dudh ). Mix them well. Apply mixture over the affected area and let it dry. Rinse the mixture off after drying.

Dilute Sea Buckthorn oil extract with Almond Oil.
Apply evenly on the skin with a cotton ball.
To get good results apply it soon after the sun exposure

Mix Sandalwood Essential Oil, Coconut Oil and Almond Oil in a ratio of 2:2:1. Apply over the affected Skin daily, once a day.

Take out the gel of Aloe Vera ( Gheekumari ). Add 10 drops of Lavender Essential Oil in two tablespoons of gel. Mix them well. Massage the affected area with this preparation for 10 minutes. Leave it for half an hour. Wash with normal water.

Take a tablespoon full of Honey ( Shehad ). Add juice of a Lemon ( Nimbo ) in it. Mix well. Apply a layer over the affected part and wait until it dries out. Again, apply the second layer and let it dry completely. Wash with normal water.
Honey acts as a natural moisturizer which helps the skin to get its moisture back.
Lemon ( Nimbo ) is acidic in nature. Thus, it helps the skin in shedding off the top layer and helps the growth of new skin cells.

Aloe Vera ( Gheekumari in India ) reduces inflammation of the skin. Sea Buck thorn helps to heal the rashes due to Sunburn and protects the skin from harmful Ultraviolet rays. Lavender Essential Oil helps to rejuvenate the skin and speeds up the healing process.
Take the followings :
Aloe Vera juice : 4 to 5 teaspoons
Sea Buck thorn Oil : 1 to 2 teaspoons
Lavender Essential Oil : 18 to 20 drops
Combine all the above herbs. Mix well. Soak a cotton ball in the solution. Dab it onto the affected area. Repeat 2 to 3 times a day.

Take one cup of water and add 30 drops of Lavender, 20 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil in it. Mix them well. Spray this blend on the affected areas. Repeat the process as needed to get relief.
