Description

Hepatosplenomegaly is a disease of the Spleen and the Liver.
The enlargement of the Liver and the Spleen is Hepatosplenomegaly.

Liver : It is the power house of the Body. It is located below the Diaphragm behind the rib cage. It is reddish brown in color.

Functions of the Liver are
It is the director of the metabolism.
It detoxifies the Blood and helps in Protein synthesis. It fights Infections and helps in the production of the Amino Acids. It produces bile salts that helps in the digestion.
Processing and storage of iron for production of red blood cells
Conversion of waste products of body metabolism into urea that is excreted in the urine.
Metabolizing medications into their active ingredients in the body.

Anything wrong with the Liver causes problems. The enlargement of the Liver is known as Hepatomegaly.

Spleen : It is a part of the Immune System. It helps the immune system to recognize the pathogens. It produces antibodies to fight infections. It purifies the Blood. It is composed of the White pulp and the Red Pulp. White pulp produces blood cells and store them. The Red Pulp helps to purify the Blood by removing dead cells from the Blood. The enlargement of the Spleen is known as Splenomegaly. It is dealt with separately on this portal.

However, Hepatosplenomegaly is a common term used for the enlargement of both the Liver and the Spleen.

Materia Medica for Hepatosplenomegaly

Single Herb

Radish for Hepatosplenomegaly

Extract the juice of White Radish leaves and stems. Take quarter cup of the juice daily in the morning on an empty stomach.

Bitter Gourd ( Karela ) for Hepatosplenomegaly

Grind dried Bitter Gourd seeds to make a powder. Consume half teaspoon of this powder with lukewarm water daily.

Carom ( Ajvain ) for Hepatosplenomegaly

Take half teaspoon each of Carom powder and Salt. Mix them well. Have it twice daily, after meals with water.

Aloe Vera for Hepatosplenomegaly

Extract the pulp from the Aloe Vera leaf. Mix it with a pinch of Turmeric. Have it daily in the morning.

Chicory ( Kasni ) for Hepatosplenomegaly

Grind Chicory roots, flowers and seeds. Extract its juice by squeezing them. Mix 1 tablespoon of the extracted juice in one cup of water. Drink it, once a day.

Henna for Hepatosplenomegaly

Prepare a decoction, made of powdered Henna bark and one cup of hot water. Drink it, once a day.

hello,
For enlargement of liver if I take bitter melon seed powder ,please let me know for how long.

You may try the following Herbs to take care of your Liver.
1. Have 1 Kutki capsule every day.
2. Have a cup of fresh Radish juice every day. Take it for 1 week only.
3. Have a capsule of Milk Thistle every day.
Have these remedies for 15 first and if you see some good results, continue it for more 15 days. But make sure about the doses.
