Description

Head Lice is a disease of the Head.
The small wingless parasitic insects are Head Lice.
They live in the scalp and feed on blood to survive.
They spread by direct or indirect contact with infected person.

Materia Medica for Head Lice

Single Herb

Agarwood (Agar ) for Head Lice

Apply Agarwood (Agar ) powder all over the affected area.

Custard Apple Seed ( Sitaphal Ke Beej ) for Head Lice

Take a handful of Custard Apple seeds. Wash and dry them. Dry them in the sun for a few days. Grind to powder them. Store in a dry jar. Take two table spoons. Add water to make a thin paste. Apply on head that has lice. Leave it on the head for about one hour. Wash head normally. Abracadabra ! No more lice. One application is enough to kill the lice.
OR : Mix Custard Apple extract with coconut oil. Ratio 1 : 1. Apply on hair. Leave on for at least 3 hours. Repeat 3 or 4 times.
Caution : Seeds are poisonous. The paste or the oil must NOT come in contact with the eyes. It may cause irritation and may lead to blindness.
Boil 25 to 30 Azadirachta Indica leaves in half jug water. Strain and cool. Wash hairs with it daily for a week. Repeat the same, if needed.
Extract the juice of Emetic Nut ( Maniphal ). Apply on the scalp thrice a week for 20 minutes.

Vinegar ( Sirka ) for Head Lice

Add 2 ml Vinegar in a 50 ml water. Wash your hairs after shampoo.

Onion Juice (Pyaz ka Rass) for Head Lice

Apply Onion juice in your scalp. Wash your hair after 5 hours. Repeat this procedure twice a week.

Lemon ( Nimbo ) for Head Lice

Add 3 tsp Lemon juice in 100 g Butter. Apply it on head. Wash after 2 hours. Repeat it after 3 days.

Castor Oil for Head Lice

Castor Oil is quite good to treat Head Lice. It takes time to vanish the lice completely.
Massage your clean scalp with adequate quantity of lukewarm Castor Oil. Cover up the head. Leave it overnight. Next morning, wash your hair with mild shampoo. Do it twice a week.

Centaury for Head Lice

Add 2 tablespoons of Centaury to One cup of boiling water.
Steep for half an hour.
Cool and apply to the scalp for 1-2 hours and rinse.

Almond ( Badam ) for Head Lice

Crush 8-10 Almonds. Make a paste by adding 2-3 tsp of lime juice. Apply it over the scalp for 1/2 an hour. Repeat this twice or thrice in a week.

Apple ( Seb ) for Head Lice

Crush an apple in to small pieces. Massage with it for 15-20 minutes. Wash. Repeat this for three days.

Camphor ( Kafur ) for Head lice

Put two - three tablespoon of Camphor in half bowl of Coconut oil. Wash the hair with this base next morning. Repeat this process for 4 days.
Powder the dried berries of Euonymus Europaeus to make period. Make its paste with water. Apply it over lice affected parts.
Crush dry seeds of Indian Gooseberry ( Amla ) to make powder. Add Lemon juice in it to make paste. Apply it over Scalp. Wash after 1 hour.

Hyssop for Head Lice

Mix Tea Tree Oil and Olive Oil in 1:10 ratio. Apply it on your Scalp and Hair. Wash after 3 hours.

Bitter Gourd ( Karela ) for Head Lice

Use root decoction of Bitter Gourd ( Karela ) for Head wash.

Bay Leaf ( Tejpatta ) for Head Lice

Take 5 to 8 fresh Bay Leaf ( Tejpatta ). Boil in a liter of water until it remains half. Wash your hair with this lukewarm water thrice a week.

Tea Tree Essential Oil for Head Lice

Tea Tree Essential Oil is a easy and effective way to get rid of head lice.
Massage your scalp with lukewarm Tea Tree Essential Oil. Leave it overnight. Wash your Head in the morning.
Caution : It may irritate the scalp.

Geranium Essential Oil for Head Lice

Geranium Essential Oil kills Head Lice. Take one cup of shampoo and add 40 drops of Geranium Essential Oil in it. Mix them well. Apply the blend to the head and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse and then comb with a fine-tooth comb.

Herbal Treatment For Head Lice 1

Grind 10 dried Fruits of Acacia Concinna after discarding the seeds, 1/2 cup each of Fenugreek Seeds, Wild Turmeric roots, Roots of Indian Sarsaparilla and Sandalwood chips.Massage the head with Coconut oil and apply this powder. Rinse off after 30 Minutes.

Herbal Treatment For Head Lice 2

Prepare a paste of the roots of Syrina Rue with Mustard oil. Apply for 30-45 minutes. Wash with lukewarm water.

Take some Garlic cloves. Extract the juice. Add Lemon juice. Apply on the head twice or thrice a week. Repeat in the next week, if needed.

Herbal Treatment For Head Lice 4

Soak 10 Almonds in water for a night. Grind them to make paste in the morning. Add 3 tsp Lemon juice in it. Apply it on scalp. Wash after 1 hour.

Crush 30 Azadirachta Indica ( Neem ) leaves to make paste. Add 1 tsp Turmeric powder in it. Apply it on your scalp and hairs. Wash after 3 hours.

My school going daughter got lice in her hair. The anti lice shampoos did not help.
I then tried the Custard apple seeds remedy mentioned here.
Like magic all the lice from her hair disappeared.
Mothers you can safely use powder of Custard apple seeds for this common lice problem in school going children.

When I was school going girl , my mother used to wash my head with Neem leaves water. It is an effective one.
